Photoshop is and has always been designed for professionals.
Every version requires you to either know earlier versions of Photoshop or to put effort into learning to use it.
I myself am at the moment still using CS3, but when I am able I am going to upgrade to CS4 as there are some pretty neat features in there.
If you want to know the exact details you'd best be off reading some articles on this matter, I happen to be subscribed to Photoshop Advanced Magazine and they have had quite a few articles on CS4 already. ^^

Well yeah, you might want to try Elements for that, I've never used it myself but as far as I know it's a simpler version with less advanced options which makes the program easier to work with.
Photoshop is loaded with options so unless you have some knowledge about which option does what you won't know what to use. ^^

I remember PaintShopPro my first sigmaker program. was aloooooong time tho..
it was about the time RuneScape had its first beta. it was like 50 players on at te same time,, MAX.
now it got like 300k players online 24/7 haven't played it for like 5-6 years tho
