Wael90's Shutdown Timer
I was a little bored so I decided to make something fast and useful which I want to share with all of you.
Personally, I like falling asleep to cartoons sometimes and I usually have them playing on my computer till I start me new adventures at the sleeping world. Question is, why have my computer turned on for so many hours in which I'm asleep? And more important and crucial for me, why risk the chance of someone getting his hands on my computer while I'm asleep? My computer is my property and exclusively for my own usage and I get upset if someone else is on it without my knowledge.
Thus, I have made a batch file which will automatically shutdown your computer at your preferred time. I'm using it on Windows 7 and I'm very pleased.
Some notes for you:
- It is NOT a program, it uses Windows command prompt and you don't have to install anything.
- The clock works in 24 Hour format, which means: 12:00 AM = 00:00, 1:00 PM = 13:00. A more detailed preview on how the 24H clock works HERE.
- The batch file has been compressed into a RAR file for the reason that Firefox would identify it as a text file if I uploaded it in its original form. All you have to do is simply extract the file to your desired location. You can download WinRAR HERE.
Download:
Shutdown Timer
Uploaded on Mediafire since it only requires 1 click and it's user friendly as well.
Enjoy.

Why bother calculating while you can just enter 3-4 digits and be done with it? :P

Wow the fact that you're able to create your own software(?) to do specifically what you want amazes me. I wish I could do that haha.
Personally, I use a program called AMP WinOFF. It allows you to do "something" after a certain amount of time or at a specific date and time. "Something" can be shutting down, restarting, locking the computer, hibernating, etc. It also has other functions such as taking a screenie before shutdown or executing a program before it does.
Mind you, the only function I use on this program is Automatic Shutdown after a certain amount of time which is why whatever you've made would be better for this since it would take up a lot less space and use less cpu. ^^
-Still in awe at your coding capabilities-
Well done :)

Thanks for your kind words but it isn't too much of a big deal, it's just a few lines of simple commands in windows cmd implemented into a batch file.. :) I just thought it would be nice to post it around since I'm using it every single day and some people could find it useful.. Yes I love falling asleep to Spongebob! ^^

Hello World etc? :P
We made several batch files too, calculators for example.. Nice way to spend time on if you know what you're looking for. :)
